Watch movement list

This is an excellent list of Swiss watch movements. Click here for more information.

My first mechanical watch

This was my first mechanical watch. Actually, it was my father's watch, and he gave it to me many years ago because the watch stopped running. I promised him to find a watchmaker to overhaul the watch, which I ultimately did, but after the watch was overhauled, it turned out that my mother had bought him another watch. Ever since this watch has been in my possession.

It is a Dugena, a German watchbrand. It is a handwound watch. The crown is very small and makes it very difficult to wind the watch.

Watch pictures from our meeting last weekend

Last weekend, over 30 watch enthusiasts met at a "secret" location in Germany. It took place at a wonderful beer garden, the food was great, and we had a lot of fun. I just would like to display a few of the watches that people were wearing that evening. I hope visitors to my blog will enjoy the show... Thank you to Raphael for the pictures.

Funny story about the Domino's Pizza Dial Rolex

I went to see a close collector friend yesterday, and we both looked at the dial of the Domino's Pizza Rolex. I wondered about the little grey dot next to the logo and expected it to be either damage, a hole, or a piece of dust or something like that. My friend took the watch to his watchmaker, and his watchmaker laughed at him. After carefully looking through a loupe, it turned out that the dot is an "R", because the logo is protected. Life writes some of the best stories. I had never before seen this logo watch, so this was an interesting learning lesson.

Domino's Pizza Rolex Air King

I recently acquired this piece of Rolex history. This watch is about 12 years old. Comes complete with box and all papers. Domino's Pizza is still rewarding their top franchises with Rolex Air Kings, however, Rolex does not allow them to print their logo on the dial any more. They only allow the Domino's Pizza Logo on the bracelet nowadays.

Rolex vintage advertisements

These pictures of vintage Rolex advertisements are a contribution from Hans on www.r-l-x.de. There are some very interesting examples, such as the old Prince Brancard advertising. Enjoy the show. Thanks go to Hans.

Rolex nodate Reference 6424

This is the oldest Rolex I own. About 50 years old. It is a reference 6424. I had the watch overhauled by a Rolex technician. Unfortunately, the condition of this watch was by far not as good as I hoped it would be. The dial is original though and unrefinished. I decided to leave it that way. I bought an old vintage Rolex leather crocodile strap and the Rolex clasp.
